No visit to The Real Mary's Kings Close is complete without time to browse in our fantastic new gift shop! Completely renovated in early summer 2007, the new shop includes many unusual ranges, reflecting themes of Scottish social history and contemporary Scottish lifestyle, as well as unique Real Mary King's Close merchandise including t-shirts, postcards, sweets and yo-yo's.
Our ever popular book department includes titles for both adults and children alike, including the hugely successful Rebus series by Ian Rankin and the classic Harry Potter series by JK Rowling. Also popular are our mysterious book collections including guides to the Paranormal and spiritual worlds by Tony Stockwell, Yvette Fielding, Dr Ciaran O'Keeffe and Richard Felix to name but a few. Wizards and witches to Scottish lifestyle and general knowledge - our book department is a must see! We are delighted to be selling two books inspired by Mary King's Close - 'Doctor Who - The Many Hands' by Dale Smith and 'The Underground City' by Edinburgh-born author Anne Forbes.
Launched in October 2007, our 'Dark' department reflects Mary King's Close darker and more mysterious side. The Dark department (pictured, right) gives visitors the opportunity to select from a unique collection of products, chosen with style and humour by our retail team. The one common denominator is that the products are black! Unique to Mary King's Close, you can choose from luxurious leather notebooks and calligraphy sets, beautifully designed and fragranced gift soaps, ceramics, glassware, home and garden accessories, as well as more tongue in cheek items such as black toilet paper and Scottish black bun (a tasty fruit cake!).
